“One of the most common problems that people come to me for is: “Our team is too polite. We have this norm of almost toxic politeness, and it’s blocking us from having the really important conversations about what should go in our product or why do our customers hate our product.” Priya Parker, NY Times. This all started when the baby Baby Boomers joined the work force and really took off with their kids! Winning was no longer everything!
Frankly the best sales calls I ever made were with customers who were really pissed off! I understood that if they were screaming about my company that they were still interested in fixing the problem! The ones who weren’t screaming at you had already moved on to someone else! I worked for a number of really screwed up companies and so had a lot of experience at conflict resolution! I spent a decade working for a company that required toxic politeness and needless to say they no longer exist! Yup nice people really do finish last! Welcome to America!
And that is all I’m going to say about that!
