In the 1960’s I went to work for my family’s machine shop at a time when one worker controlled the motion of one machine! My Father purchased his first CNC controlled machine in the 1970’s and one operator could then control two CNC machines eliminating the need for one of the operators! In the 1980’s Japan owned 75% of these computer controlled robots! Today Japan is still the number 1 manufacturer of them in the world!
The next iteration of robots are mental robots which instead of automating blue collar motion jobs will now be automating white collar mental jobs! Just like motion robots the quality, productivity and cost will improve the output of the job required! Those who fully embrace this technology will survive and thrive while those who don’t won’t! In 1960 GM was the world’s largest automaker but in 2025 it was Toyota! 1 guess why! UAW.
And that is all I’m going to say about that!
