“South Siders voice concerns about gentrification, housing and affordability as they celebrate opening of the Obama Presidential Center. The South Side and city as a whole have seen the displacement of longtime Black residents in recent years. Between 2000 and 2019, 25% of Black residents left the city citing school closures, the demolition of public housing, over policing and lack of access to resources, as reasons to move.” Guardian UK.
I went to school at UMass Boston and once they decided to put the Kennedy library there it was understood that the Columbia Point Projects were coming down. I remember that the University hired a big black guy as there point person to the projects and after getting mugged several times the school bought him a couple of Doberman Pincers!
And that is all I’m going to say about that!
