“Republicans have a history of attempting to increase the retirement age, privatize Social Security, or otherwise cut Social Security benefits,” (Senator) Warren wrote, warning that some Republicans have floated raising the retirement age or means-testing benefits as potential solutions. According to Warren, increasing the retirement age by two years could reduce median monthly retirement benefits by $345 to $741, or roughly 17% to 35%.” Benzinga.
Democrats invented Social Security at a time when life expectancy was 64 but benefits began at 65. Today life expectancy is 79 but benefits begin at 67. When republican George W. Bush attempted to “fix” Social Security Nancy Pelosi said it didn’t need to be fixed! If Warren and Pelosi followed FDR’s lead, people would be retiring at age 80 but the ladies really don’t care if America goes bankrupt which is exactly where we are headed!
