Beef, its what’s for dinner someplace else

“In 2024, the United States exported approximately 3.0 billion pounds (about 1.36 million metric tons) of beef. While exports have slowed from the 2022 record high, they still represent nearly 14% of total U.S. beef production. Key markets include Japan, South Korea, China/Hong Kong, Mexico, and Canada, which together account for 86% of the export value.” Google AI.

“Some would say brisket is the heartbeat of Texas barbecue. But for restaurants across the Brazos Valley, rising beef prices are threatening to put them on the chopping block, and industry leaders say relief isn’t coming anytime soon. Ground beef now costs $6.70 a pound, up over 15% from a year ago. Beef steaks are sitting at $12.73 a pound, up 16% from last year. And the U.S. Department of Agriculture warns that prices could climb another 10 to 18% before the end of 2026. KBTX
