As you walk around older cemeteries and you see headstones of people who died in their early 40’s and notice that they buried many of their own children who died before them, you understand why they very much wanted to believe that there was a God in heavens offering an Afterlife that they would then see each other again! With the advances in medicine we have doubled the life expectancy while our children are now outliving us!
In addition science has managed to stripped away a lot of the mysteries about life on earth with the result that many of us no longer attend church! This has been mostly for the good although there has been some resulting loss of both community as well as in the teaching of moral values. But just as it has been everywhere else in the world, politics has invaded religion dividing it into two very different camps. The world continues to move away from God to being more Godless!
And that is all I’m going to say about that!
