A few years ago I found myself on Martha’s Vineyard having dinner at a restaurant when my wife commented how nice it was to see a table of black ladies dining there as well. I replied that I thought it would be nicer to see an integrated table of ladies! I remember while attending UMASS that some black students were demanding their own dorm but the white Massachusetts liberals were appalled by the request but I got it!
“Every morning from the Fourth of July through Labor Day, a loose coalition of Black bathers who call themselves the Polar Bears meet at Inkwell Beach, a short stroll from downtown Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard, and wade into the ocean to start the day.” NY Times. Here we are some 50 years later and you do have to ask yourself who is segregating from who? Is America becoming more or less segregated by race, income and/or politics?
