I watched a TV series on Lincoln and the black academics rightly pointed out that Lincoln was not a perfect man and the white academics rightly pointed out that he was the indispensable man! Of the many people who ran against him for President who among them would have gotten the better result? We will live in a democracy for as long as we can keep it. General Sherman understood that in democracy it wasn’t its leaders that called the shots it was its voters and they are rushing head long into another US Civil War!
