“Barry Goldwater opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965, calling it both unconstitutional and unnecessary, despite agreeing that voting is a basic civil right. He argued that existing laws, such as the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960 which he supported, were sufficient to ensure voting rights, and believed the 1965 Act was a federal overreach.” Google AI. The problem with the Voting Rights Act is that pretty soon America’s minority population will become the majority population making the law increasingly redundant unless of course you are a professional democrat!
Barry was correct and in order for the Federal Government to outlaw Gerrymandering it would require a Constitutional Amendment which the democrats would like to avoid again as they did in 1965. I worked for a Massachusetts Republican State Senator whose suburban district was gerrymandered to include a heavily populated democrat section of Boston which flipped the seat to them! Today of the forty MA State Senators only 5 are republican!
And that is all I’m going to say about that!
