“The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has addressed the way it evaluates the role of artificial intelligence in movies that could qualify for Oscars. Starting with the 2027 ceremony, Oscar’s 99th, the Academy is reserving the right to inquire about the extent to which AI was used in a movie, as well as how it was used. To compete in either writing category (original or adapted screenplays), a script must have been written entirely by one or more humans.” Rolling Stone. How will they catch the cheaters?
This is only the opening salvo by the Academy that will be looking for other ways to ban AI use by the industry! There will be other daggers into the heart of Hollywood which will contribute to the continuing decline of American’s cinema empire! The Academy was started as a company union and is dominated by unionized workers who like their fellow union brethren will eventually kill the industry that they work for! They have already made a very good start of it!
