Or depression and war, America is leading the west in both of these with both record levels of debt while at the same time drawing a line in the Taiwanese sand! In the lead up to WW 2 America’s debt to GDP was 42% while in 2022 it was 125%, We came out of WW 2 with a debt to GDP of 119%.
Over the next decade the debt is projected to go from 32 trillion to 50 trillion. But of course this projection doesn’t include the cost of WW 3 with China! If the War comes before the depression and we lose the war the resulting depression will have our grand kid living out of caves. Even if we win the war the debt load will drive our politics into the arms of either neo-bolshevikism or neo-nazism.
