In her autobiography Gloria Swanson said that the invention of movies was the biggest thing to happen in the world since the invention of the printing press. The Medium is the Message author Marshal McLuhan, says that it is the medium itself that shaped and controlled “the scale and form of human association”. Taking the movie as an example, he argued that the way this medium played with conceptions of speed and time transformed “the world of sequence and connections into the world of creative configuration and structure”. Therefore, the message of the movie medium is this transition from “lineal connections” to “configurations”!
Both TV and especially the internet has accelerated this lineal disconnect which would explain why western mobs are tearing down statues of Lincoln and Churchill. They are attempts to completely reconfigure our history along capitalistic and socialistic lines. No surprise when one considers that the drivers of these mediums are in fact socialist themselves.
And that is all I’m going to say about that.
