No Poet and Know it

Twas the night before Watergate and all thru the white house

Not a creature was stirring not even the head louse.

With a little old chairman, so lively and Devine!

I knew in a moment it must be Sam Ervin(e).

More rapid than eagles his witnesses they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

“Now, Haldeman! Now, Erhlichman! Now, Mitchell! and Colson!

On, Dean! On, Liddy! On, Krogh and McCord!

To the top of the Rotunda! To the hall of the columns!

Sam Dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

“Happy impeachment to all, and to all a good-night.”

And that is all I have to say about that!
