A recent NY Times editorial complained that Trump was going it alone instead of doing it together with allies but the Donald understands that if he wants to accomplish anything he must do so before he becomes a lame duck! That of course could happen this year if the republicans lose the House and/or Senate! Having been impeached twice he understands that the political environment which he helped to create is way too partisan in the USA for any kind of genuine compromise! If the decision involves life or death you want to go fast but if not then go far.
However when it comes to the Middle East, America has never been an honest broker given the powerful influence of AIPAC in American politics. When we proclaim a Jewish American as Wolfowitz of Iraq or when we send 3 negotiators two of whom are Jewish to Pakistan, Iran understands completely who it is they are really negotiating with! Let’s hope that this doesn’t end up in another world war! Will the Jewish cure become worse than the Islamic disease?
