Coming off of the Holocaust, American Jews needed to influence the world’s most powerful nation to help establish the State of Israel and to help defend it! Having some influence over American propaganda and foreign policy would be very helpful in this regard! I remember attending a Jewish wedding with two attendees who were newly minted State Department employees and sat there wondering how many of the US foreign service were Jewish Americans?
