I remember when GW Bush and the Republicans promoted No Child Left Behind which put the onus on the Teachers Union to insure that every student made the grade! The Union pushed back on this aggressively faulting a Teaching to the Test mentality! “During the 2000-2010 decade, high school test scores showed gradual improvements in some areas but persistent achievement gaps between racial/ethnic groups.” Google AI.
“High school test scores from 2015-2025, particularly from the NAEP (Nation’s Report Card), reveal a significant decline, with 2024 scores hitting historic lows in math and reading, showing fewer students proficient, especially post-pandemic, with nearly half below basic levels in math and reading by 2024.” Google AI. Obama got rid of No Child Left Behind and today every child is being left behind! Way to go democrats and teachers union!
