I spent a decade working in an industry that was being attacked by offensive lawyers and I mean that in both meanings of the word! When the company I worked for was playing offense we were winning but when its leadership decided to go on defense this allowed our largest competitor to catch up and eventually pass us! Perhaps not a Department of Defense or even War but rather a Department of Offense!
One of the advantages of playing offense is that you get to decide when and where the battle takes place! Think Pearl Harbor or 9/11. For China who won the tariff war with America it was rare earths that gave them the win! Having recognized this it would not be surprising for China to move sooner as opposed to later before the West “fixes” its weaknesses! But remember you need lots of steel to wage a long war and China makes more of this then the next 2 thru 10 largest producers combined!
And that is all I’m going to say about that!
