His ego got the best of him as he thought that he was elected to do the people’s business with out the consent of Congress! Even the non-elected Rosalyn would sit in on cabinet meetings!
Carter blamed the Iranians for his loss and explained that he had assurances from both Iran’s PM and President that they would protect American citizens but of course his failure was not asking the Ayatollah Assahollah as well! Jimmy’s major success was the Camp David Accords which lead directly to Sadat’s murder, sort of like a surgeon telling the family that the surgery went perfectly but the patient died anyway!
