“Carbon dioxide emissions from private jets have increased by 46% in the last five years, according to a study published Thursday in the journal Nature Communications Earth & Environment. The researchers also found that 291 of the flights were to the 2023 COP28 climate conference, releasing a collective 3,800 tons of carbon dioxide.” LA Times.
“Around the turn of the century, the Federal Aviation Administration pioneered the technology that allows researchers to track private jets — but now, the agency is allowing aircraft operators to obscure their ID, which could potentially make similar studies impossible.” LA Times.
