Thirty odd years ago my son and I found ourselves at the New Haven Colosseum on an early Sunday morning waiting in line for a $25 autograph from Baseball Hall of Famer Willie Mays! Mays was clearly not thrilled being there that Sunday but say hey what you will he was a great ball player none the less!
I hadn’t thought of Willie for several years now and frankly thought that he had died many years ago. My Great Grandfather was a Semi-Pro ball player whose factory team once competed against another company team that included Gabby Hartnett who would go on the very next year to play for the CUBS and was the second Catcher inducted into the HOF.
And that is all I’m going to say about that!
