The Canadian Speaker of the House recognized 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka in a speech given during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the Canadian parliament. The speaker hailed Hunka as a war hero who served in the First Ukranian Division and “fought for Ukrainian independence against the Russian aggressors then, and continues to support the troops today.”
I worked with an Armenian who also fought with the Germans against the Stalinist Soviet Union whom he hated even more than Hitler! In his case the devil you know versus the devil you don’t know, the allies held their noses and teamed up with one mass murderer against another! Ike said that the worst thing he had to do was return the “Russians” who fought for Hitler against Stalin!
