I remember taking a flight out of Hartford to DC and Weicker who had retired from political life was on board with his wife and son. Personally I thought he was bit of a blowhard who was from the Eastern Establishment Republican wing of the party who came from money much like another CT POL Bush 41.
Increasingly the Republican Party was taken over by ex-democrat southerners and ex-union northerners! Not surprising then that Liberal Lowell would be defeated by a more conservative Democrat Joe Lieberman for the US Senate. Not wanting to end his political career as a loser Weicker would then go on to win the CT Governorship!
And that is all I’m gong to say about that!
