I remember a few years ago seeing Hal Holbrook in Mark Twain Tonight. He was at the end of his career and his dentures gave him a lisp that made him difficult to understand. Twain was famous for making wise cracks and one of the things he said was “get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please”. He would have been really impressed with social media’s ability to do this!
Some years back PBS wanted him to do a program on Huck Finn but they did not want him to use the “N” word. He refused because white folks like himself needed to be reminded of their history! Frankly don’t understand why PBS asked for this as it’s right up there with being a Holocaust or Sandy Hook denier. Where does all of this end when we finally rewrite the Bible?
And that is all I’m going to say about that!
