Watergate

Let’s say for example that JFK did something worse than this which would likely not be much of a stretch. There are two very good reasons why he would not have been impeached. First off the Democrats controlled both the Senate and House and neither would have gone there. Second and more importantly Ben Bradlee the managing editor of the Washington Post would likely not have allowed Woodward and Bernstein anywhere near this story because of his close friendship with JFK.

Today some might look at this relationship as professionally unethical on the part of Bradlee, however given the performance of the for profit media over the last four years it makes you wonder just how much progress this country has made towards building a true democracy. The overt effort by both sides of the media divide makes me believe that in the end neither has any real confidence in the voters ability to decide for themselves.

And that is all I’m going to say about that.
