The white power structure in Major League Baseball decided to integrate baseball after WW 2. They would accomplish this not by picking the best black baseball player but rather a baseball player who could control his emotions while suffering racist sling and arrows. In that regard Robinson was the perfect choice although he admitted that he would go home after a game and hammer golf balls into the local reservoir because they were white!
The white power elite would make the same kind of decision when they chose Obama! He was neither the smartest or best black politician but like Robinson was highly disciplined. Ironically, Robinson the first modern black ball player and Moses Fleetwood Walker the first Major League black baseball player would both suffer their worst racial experiences in Rochester NY! The MLB and the city of Rochester should erect statues to both men there!
And that is all I have to say about that!
